Earning sats.
First-to-forward bounties are in development and ship later this year. The mechanism: every BLE packet has exactly one gateway that hears it first, and that gateway earns a Lightning sats payout. You don't need to do anything beyond keep your gateway running and your radio in a good spot.
Until the bounty mechanism goes live, your gateway runs free and forwards packets so we can prove the network out together. Rates and a per-gateway payout history will show up on your gateway page when the program ships. No custody, no IOU, no off-chain promise we can renege on: the sats pay directly to a Lightning node you control.
Why free, honestly.
We charge nothing because the value flows from gateway operators to the network, not from us to you. The gateway side's the demand-generating side, not the revenue-extracting side.
